Short biographic note
In September 2006, Kevin Cleaver joined IFAD as Assistant President for Programmes. He previously held positions in the World Bank, including Director for Agriculture and Rural Devleopment and Director for Sustainable Development in the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region. He represented the World Bank on the CGIAR Executive Committee and participated in mobilizing funds for global programmes in the agriculture and social development areas.
Kevin Cleaver has had a distinguished career in agriculture and rural development, with many books and articles published in this area. He spent several years working and living in Sub-Sahara and North Africa. He holds a BA in International Relations from Univerity of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, a Masters degree in International Law and Diplomacy and a PhD in Economics from Fletcher School, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts. He completed an Executive Development Management Programme at Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts.
