Short biographic note
Dr. Ousmane Badiane joined IFPRI in April 1, 2004, as Senior Research Fellow and Senior Research Advisor to the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). In July 2005, he was appointed as Africa Coordinator to help steer the Institute’s research, capacity strengthening, and policy communications work in Africa. He is also leading the Institute’s assistance to Regional Economic Communities on the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme.
Dr. Badiane, a national of Senegal, was formerly Lead Specialist for Food and Agricultural Policy for the Africa Region at the World Bank. He worked at IFPRI from 1989 to 1997, when he led the institute's work on market reforms and development, before joining the World Bank in 1998. He was also an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins' School of Advance International Studies from 1993 to 2003. Dr. Badiane received a Masters degree and PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Kiel in Germany
